Baker Mallett were appointed to provide quantity surveying support and later were appointed the role of post contract quantity surveyors for the construction of a two storey extension as part of the Hello Future project.

Hello Future is the name given to Manchester Museum’s once-in-a-generation, £15million transformation project. Designed by Purcell, this project transforms the already diverse Manchester Museum into a multi functioning space for live, creative use with the intention to bring its visitors a more engaging experience.

The project involved the construction of a two storey extension to the Manchester Museum to house a Special Exhibition Gallery and a South Asia Gallery, internal refurbishment works and the construction of a new entrance, within a listed building.

Our works involved co-ordinating an extensive value engineering exercise; reviewing the submitted prices; suggesting alternative products and manufacturers for the most costly products without affecting the quality, aesthetics or feel of the project, whilst still meeting project sponsors expectations and aspirations.

Our post contract quantity surveying services included overseeing the overall development budget and assisting in funding applications.
