Baker Mallett were appointed as Independent Construction Auditors in November 2016 to deliver an industrial relations audit for the construction of Hinkley Point C nuclear power station, a project to construct a 3,260 MW power station in Somerset.

This is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK since 1995 and it is expected to create job opportunities for approximately 25,000 people. The first unit is scheduled to begin operating around the end of this decade. On completion, it is expected to meet approximately 7% of the UK’s electricity needs.

For the Hinkley Point C project we are providing an auditing service designed to ensure operatives are correctly paid; to provide factual information to assist the client and management groups in their task of monitoring and improving performance and industrial relations.

Typical items audited, but are not limited to, include:

  • Working Hours / Patterns

  • Basic Rates, Overtime and Shift Premiums

  • Bonus Payments
