The Reading Room Exhibition
The British Museum reappointed Baker Mallett under a new 5 year framework for Quantity Surveying Services which extended its continuous involvement with them under various framework agreements since 1995.
As part of the previous framework agreement Baker Mallett supplied Quantity Surveying Services for the temporary conversion of the Round Reading Room into an exhibition space. This room is a space of major historical importance and all of the temporary work needed to be meticulously planned to avoid causing any damage to the fabric and the furnishings, under the strict guidelines of English Heritage.
Two exhibitions were planned for the Round Reading Room, the first titled the First Emperor which appeared in September 2007 and was centred around figures from the terracotta army in X’ian, China and the second was in Autumn 2008 which centred around the Emperor Hadrian.
