Refurbishment of Leicester Central Fire Station
- Discipline: Quantity Surveyor
- Project Value: £3.5M
- Form of Contract: JCT 05 Standard Contract with Quantities
Baker Mallett was appointed by White Young Green to provide Quantity Surveying services for the refurbishment of the Grade II listed Central Fire Station.
The alteration and refurbishment work was designed to make use of the existing rear workshop and storage building to house new sleeping accommodation, locker rooms, gym and driver training facilities. Demolition of a 1970’s bedroom block extension provided additional space in the front building for community facilities as well as creating further office space for wider fire service use.
The refurbishment was completed with the replacement of the mechanical and electrical services throughout. The project commenced in Spring 2009 and was completed in September 2010.
