Baker Mallett was commissioned by The Natural History Museum to provide Quantity Surveying and CDMC Services on this project which involved replanning of the available space to raise the profile of the restaurant facility in this part of the Museum which had up to now been underused.
This project forms one part of a major review of catering provision at the Museum following the appointment of a new catering partner, Benugo towards the end of 2008.
Executed over an intense 8 week contract period, on 1st June 2009 the restaurant and shop have now had their positions reversed and both have been fitted out with purpose made joinery and catering fittings. Since completion, income from both facilities has improved considerably, with the restaurant reportedly being full from opening to closing time.
