Distinctly Cumbrian Food Technology Centre
Baker Mallett was appointed the role of Quantity Surveyor, CDM Coordinator and Employers Agent to construct the Food Technology Centre which commenced in October 2007 and is due for completion in May 2008.
The food technology centre is a fully hygienic single storey steel framed construction developed for CREA’s Distinctly Cumbrian programme as part of their support for food and drink producers in Cumbria.
At the heart of the development there are 5 commercial kitchens ranging in size. Each one equipped to a professional standard which shared ambient chiller and freezer storage areas, a packing and labelling line and specialist production equipment.
The development will include specialist hygienic cladding, specialist equipment and renewable energy sources of solar panelling, ground source heat pump and grey water recycling.
