Construction of new Junior School
Baker Mallett was appointed by Austin Friars School to provide traditional pre and post Quantity Surveying services throughout the construction of a new Junior School.
As a result of a capital investment programme, pupils at St. Monica’s school are to benefit from the provision of a new junior school.
The energy conscious design includes a heavily insulated envelope, maximised glazing on the South elevations and minimised on the North. The classroom corridor is designed to collect solar radiation and re-distribute this to the classrooms behind. High ceilings, naturally lit and ventilated spaces, wider corridors and best quality acoustics have been included. The emphasis is on robust, simple, practical and enjoyable spaces that will serve the school well for the next one hundred years.
The project began in 2007 and was completed in March 2008.
