The works included additional security measures to the existing environment, several low level viewing windows and an extension to provide a bigger enclosure including a gated area to allow visitors to get face to face with these fantastic animals (under supervision).
We are thrilled that the Zoos are open again and as always, it’s a pleasure working with such wonderful clients in an amazing environment!
Luckily, we can say there will be no more great escapes by the giant tortoises at Twycross Zoo now.

After numerous ‘great escapes’ by the giant tortoise from their enclosure at Twycross Zoo, Baker Mallett were appointed to design and manage the extension and security of the outside enclosure to provide a safe and multifunctional environment.
A number of solutions were implemented to ensure flexibility for the animals and visitors.
