Cutting Edge Conservation Project Saves Lincoln’s History

Lincoln Medieval Bishops’ Palace has stood as a ruin for over 350 years since the Civil War of the 1640s, with its limestone walls deteriorating over time.

English Heritage's £2.5million investment preserves the historic stonework and decorative treasures of the Palace. The property, once home to the Bishops of Lincoln from the 12th to 17th centuries, features various architectural remains. The restoration project, part of English Heritage's Sustainable Conservation strategy, utilises innovative conservation techniques to protect the site's delicate stonework and ensure its long-term stability.
