Baker Mallett is involved with the planning to build a 300 million euro Purified Terphtalic Acid (PTA) plant at the port of Sines, near Lisbon, Portugal. The plant, designed to produce 700,000 tonnes a year of PTA is scheduled to be completed in 2009 and to start production in the first half of 2010. PTA is used as a key ingredient in the manufacture of polyester fibres, resins and films.
